Christmas…. Its suppose to be a time of giving, spending time with your family and loved ones… so why the hell am I suppose to work until 9 on Christmas Eve?! I have barely had time to myself the past few weeks, because I’ve been working a extra hours due to the centre being open extra hours over the lead up to Christmas. If that wasn’t bad enough, it seems like the season brings out the worse in people. The number of people I have shouting at me for things BEYOND my control increases everyday. It’s gotten to the point now, if they shout at me, I don’t care anymore. You talk like that to me, be ready to get it back exactly the way you dished it to me if not worse. You want to yell at me, go ahead. I’m only going to walk away from you or shout back at you. I cannot control the stock levels. I cannot serve only you when there are 16 other customers paitiently waiting to get served while you berrate me about why I do not have the particular brand of appliance available for you. In fact if anything, it should be YOU that take the responsibility! If the item is mentioned on TV, newspapers, magazines, or your friends all have one, guess what?! At least 400 other people will want the same thing, and its first come first serve. You don’t like it? Well tough luck, its the way the world rotates. Go take your problem up with other people. If your machine breaks down, no receipt-then you better have a way to prove that you purchased it from us. If you have a receipt and its under warranty, its through the company that makes the machine, not us. If you get product cover read the papers that came with it. WE DON’T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIRS UNTIL AFTER THE WARRANTY ENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was on the phone the other day to this old lady, who I don’t know if it is becasue she can’t read or because she is an ignorant bitter old lady, for 2 hours while she yelled at me about how she still hasn’t gotten her machine back even though she’s waited three weeks for it. Then she hung up on me. Well I really do not care at this present moment, because I got about 20 others in line glaring at me, for being on the phone for so long. Then on Tuesday, I spent the entire morning calling one product representative after another, because there was a customer who was shitted off that she didn’t get her bonus bottle of hair serum. Something we were not even aware of happening. I finally got through to the buyer just before lunch, and then I had to call the customer back, but then got caught up with another customer. It was nearing 2pm before I finally got my lunch break. I barely get time to go on my other break now too. If I’m lucky, I get a few minutes to duck off to the toilets to relieve my bladder.
Add to all the stupid customers I got to deal with, I have to deal with idiot staff members too. One pages me the moment I go to the toilet to come back on the floor because she freaks out when she has to deal with more than one customer, but has this superiority complex where she thinks she can boss me around even though she works less hours than me and knows even less than me. Then there’s the idiots that they send over to “help us out” from TV hifi. He’s been working at the store for over half a year, yet he still walks around like he knows nothing. He sees how busy it is, but he stands there staring at customers when they ask him for help. What really took the cake was yesterday, I was working with him and a new staff, who turned out to be a friend of his from uni. The both of them were standing behind the counter, something we aren’t suppose to do when we aren’t on the phone or processing a sale. The phone was ringing, and they were both staring at it while it rang, talking about what they were going to do after work. I sarcastically asked if they were ever going to pick up the phone, and they looked at me and go. Huh? I gave up trying to explain anything to them and had to reach over them, as they wouldn’t even move so I could pick up the phone. Then they look at me and go, “You actually answer the phone?” I really do not know where they hire these kids from, because they seem to get slower with each new recruit.
Now I gotta go get ready for another fun filled night of Christmas shoppers and idiot newbies. I am soooo looking forward to AFTER the stocktake sale.
I need a new job. I’m so tired and fed up with the idiots that come through here now. Its really making me hate Christmas.
