As this holiday comes to an end, I’m just sitting round reflecting on the events of the past month. At the start of the holiday, I was full of optimism and anticipation for what was to come next. My travel companions and I behaved like little children seeing the world for the first time. We saw a different side to each other that can only be seen if people were living together. Some good, some not so great. We gave each other the courage to try new things and meet new people.
Soon after however, as we all got more and more comfortable with each other, we began to have moments during the day where we resented being in each other’s company for so long. I think we each went through moments where we wished we could just have a few minutes to ourselves at one stage or another. Careless words were said, and I think we all came to understand when each of us were not in our best moods.
In the end, I think this holiday has allowed us to reflect on our friendship. We held no grudges for anything said in the heat of the moment, and instead I think it has made us that little bit closer. The closeness that we haven’t really experienced since each of us went on our own paths in life. These paths may meet quite often, but not in the way that it had when we had first met and forged a friendship. We lost contact with a few friends along the way, but we also introduced others into it.
In summary, as much as I enjoyed their company, next time I think we should go on short and sweet holidays! LOL!
