As I’m on my uni break, I figured I’d read a little bit seeing as I havn’t had the chance to lately. So yesterday afternoon on my way home from driving my brother to his exams, I made a little detour to the public library in Riverton. It’s a little far from me, but I personally like that one better than my local one. For one thing it is newer and has an airy-ness about it.
I also find they have a better selection of books.
This time round I found a book that I heard about last year. It was suppose to be pretty good and it had a pretty cover. Who ever said “never judge a book by its cover” obviously don’t live in this centuary. I’ve noticed that the books with the dodgy painted covers trying to look intellectual are boring rubbish which no one would read. Makes me wonder sometimes if people ever read the “classics”. Some of the so called classics are so long! I read Oliver Twist a few years ago. I got so bored by about the fourth page, I’d skip pages where it gets boring. I’m usually the one who if I read a good book passage, I’ll read it over and over again. Possibly why I prefer watching movies on DVDs…. hehehe the fast forward and rewind buttons. OOoooo the power of a remote.
So back to the book, its called “The Nanny Diaries” by Nicola Kraus and Emma McLaughlin. The book is about a uni student who works as a part-time nanny for a New York family. The family is completely screwed, the father has a mistress who is like trying to drive out his wife, and the wife is a typical trophy wife who has a kid more for show than because she likes children. Throughout the entire book you feel really sorry for the little boy, for having such a screwed up pair of parents. As the story progresses you learn little juicy pieces of information about the people in that family, which is so much like gossip, you can’t help but to continue reading on!
Overall I loved this book. I know it is a good book when I can finish the book within a day, I’m a fast reader yes, but if it is a crap book, I’d keep delaying it. Good books on the other hand, I’ll find time to read when ever I can until I finish it. So I went online earlier to see if there was a sequel or something else on the book. I found out that there is a movie coming out later this year based on the book. It has Scarlett Johansson as the main character and Laura Linney as the mother. I really would love to watch that!

Exams are over!!!
I can now breathe. Hehehe! Not really V will kick my butt if I don’t go down to Sapphire later on.
So yeah, I went shopping in the city after the exam and to have dim sum with A at Joy Garden in Northbridge. She said that they had a new owner, so we went so A could see if the “Mean Lady” was there. She was. LOL. The food was good, but the chili oil today was so hot!!! I thought it was one of the regular ones, so I put a glob of it in my mouth and realized that my mouth was on fire! I downed the tea, only to realize that hot tea in a burning mouth ain’t gonna work. X( Anyways. It was all good in the end. I was eating my Phoenix Claws when I heard a voice say: “Fried Squid?” A saw my face light up and she got us one. YAY!!!
Anyways. Although the food was good, the price was shocking. We ordered the HarGow because they didn’t have it on the trolley, damn thing cost us near $7 for four pieces. They charged us a dollar per person for a pot of tea, which they probably just reused from the last people. My conclusion…unless you are willing to pay extra, you may want to go somewhere else.
Now I need to get some coffee or I’m gonna fall asleep tonight. I think I’m driving. LOL!
